Plow Pose has been one of my favorite yoga poses. It’s probably what first got me interested in yoga because I was so excited I could do it! It’s not as difficult as it looks. Just takes patience and breath. I learned it in college, exercising along with a Jane Fonda exercise tape in the early 80′s. This is easier to do when muscles have been warmed up and stretched. I find it very relaxing. Here are some of the benefits to doing plow.
-Calms the brain
-Stimulates the abdominal organs and the thyroid gland
-Stretches the shoulders and spine
-Helps relieve abdominal and menstrual cramping
-Helps relieve the symptoms of menopause
-Reduces stress and fatigue
-Therapeutic for backache, headache, infertility, insomnia, sinusitis
Just take your time with it. Enjoy the slowness of movement.
